Tentative Analysis of Gu Jiegang's Understanding of Local Records Studies

方志学是顾颉刚学术研究的一个重要组成部分。顾颉刚一生热衷收集和阅读地方志,并自觉在史学研究中积极使用地方志。他对方志的定义和功用等问题都表达过自己的看法。顾颉刚一生多次主持和参与修志,从而积累了丰富的修志经验。顾颉刚还采取诸多措施推动方志学发展,如在《禹贡》大量刊发方志学方面的论文,大力推荐一些方志著作使其得以出版。顾颉刚还引导和扶持一些青年学者投入方志学研究,在大学开设方志学课程,积极培养方志学人才,并提出系统完整的方志理论研究方案。

Thoughts about local records studies are important part of Gu Jiegang's academic thoughts. During his whole life,Gu Jiegang was fond of collecting and reading local records,and consciously and actively using local records in history research. He has expressed his views on issues such as the definition and functions of local records. During his lifetime,he has also sponsored and participated in various local records compilations,and accumulated rich local records compilation experiences and thoughts. Gu Jiegang also took various measures to push forward the development of local records studies. For example,in Yu Gong( 《禹贡》) published a lot of articles on local records studies,and he made great efforts in recommending the publication of some works on local records studies. Gu Jiegang also led and supported some young scholars to engage in local records studies,established courses on local records studies in universities to actively nurture young talents studying local records,and suggested systematic and complete research plans for local records theoretical studies.
