Tolstoy had a significant impact on Yuriko Miyamoto's maiden work A Crowd of Poor People, and this view has already been acknowledged by critics and the author herself. However, exactly which of Yuriko Miyamoto's works are directly affected by Tolstoy remains subject to speculation at the stage of assumptions. By studying the works of Tolstoy and A Crowd of Poor People by contrast, it can be found that Tolstoy's humanism not only gave Yuriko Miyamoto ideological support, his work A landlord's morning also offered a writing template for A Crowd of Poor People. On the other hand, Yuriko Miyamoto did not completely copy Tolstoy's model; A Crowd of Poor People also showed some characteristics different from those of Tolstoy's humanism, and completed a conversion from reception to variation.
