侯古堆一号墓编镈“■”字补释

Re-elucidation of the Character“■”on Bo Bells Unearthed from the No.1 Hougudui Tomb

本文以为侯古堆一号墓所出编镈的末尾一字应释作"■"(shi),与以往研究不同。又根据"■"在东周古文字中的用字习惯,认为它应读为"逝",在铭文中讳称死亡。

The present paper puts forward that the last character in the inscriptions on bo bells with plane opening unearthed from the No. 1 Hougudni Tomb should be re-elucidated as ＂ ＂ According to the characters-using custom during the Eastern Zhou Period, it should be red as shi 逝 , i.e. the substitution for avoiding the taboo of the word ＂death＂ thatneededexpressionintheinscriptions.
