The homogeneity of education of the economics specialty between applied colleges and research universities in china leads to talent market supply and demand structural surplus. Based on the perspective of supply side, economic engineering major set up in application colleges is a feasible way to solve this problem. The construction of economic engineering specialty is direction of the reform of economics specialty in applied colleges and is the inevitable requirement of the applied higher education, and it conforms to the trend of interdisciplinary development and meets the needs of the application of compound type talents under the market economy.
