新民主主义革命时期,陆定一把马克思主义和毛泽东思想运用于中国革命的新闻工作中,形成了富有其自身特色和魅力的新闻思想。他强调新闻要尊重事实、具有时效性,是"新近发生的事实的报道";新闻的"一切都要听从党的决定和安排";改正"文风上的缺点","宣传方式要通俗化,大众化,本地化"等。上述种种,对当代建设具有中国特色社会主义新闻事业有着极为重要价值。

During the period of New Democratic Revolution, Lu Dingyi advocated that Chinese revolution journalism shall be integrated with Marxian doctrine and Mao Zedong's thoughts, and under the control of the Party. And he defined news as timely reports on current affairs. In addition, he instructed that the news style shall be adjusted to be more simplified, popularized and localized. Lu's thinking is of great importance to the contemporary journalism construction with Chinese characteristics.
