语境意识对旅游公示语翻译的启示——以天水旅游公示语为例

The Importance of Context Awareness to the Translation of Tourism Public Signs——A Case Study on the Tourism Public Signs in Tianshui City

在"一带一路"的建设与发展中,语言作为传播与交流的主要工具,将起到至关重要的作用。近年来,随着中国经济社会的发展与繁荣,旅游事业也处于快速成长期,但旅游公示语的翻译现状却不尽人意。甘肃天水的旅游公示语中出现的翻译问题较多,有拼写错误、误译、以拼音代替翻译、随意乱译、同一公示语有几种不同的译文、翻译缺失等。通过具体译例的分析可以看出,不管是语言语境,还是情景语境、文化语境,都应该成为译者在翻译旅游公示语时充分考虑的因素,这样才能让公示语在语用功能和社会功能上达到等效。

As a primary tool for cultural spreading and communication, language certainly plays an essential role in the building and development of One Belt and One Road. In recent years, tourism is leaping forward with the development and flourishing of Chinese economy and society. However, the translation of tourism public signs is not so satisfactory. There are many problems in the translation of tourism public signs in Tianshui City, Gansu Province, such as misspelling, wrong translation, using Chinese Pinyin instead of translating, arbitrary translation, one public sign with several different translations and no translation, etc. The analysis of specific translations shows that, in order to achieve equivalence in pragmatic and social functions of public signs, the translator should take every context, from linguistic context and situational context to cultural context, into consideration while translating tourism public signs.
