Official Careers in Ming Dynasty from the Perspective of Novelists

从"二拍"可见,在明代成为官员的主要途径是科举和荫补,其中以进士身份入仕者有更加美好的前程。影响明官员升黜的原因众多,品行、政绩、关系等左右着官员的浮沉。在作者看来,才能、命运、报应是决定一个人能否入仕且其仕途是否亨通的关键因素。

There were various channels of being an official in Ming Dynasty, among which imperial examina- tion, conferring privilege were two main ways of ascending official career. Those candidates who succeeded in the highest imperial examinations had much better future in official career. Conduct, achievement and relationship af- fected the result that whether an official would be promoted or dismissed. This paper holds the view that ability, destiny and retribution were key factors that determined whether somebody could be admitted as an official or whether his official career could be smooth and successful or not. The thesis can help us research the value of Two Surprising Story Collections and the related ideas of the author.
