Mo Yan's novel Life and Death Are Wearing Me out, translated and introduced by Howard Goldb- latt, is popular abroad. In order to cater to the reading habits and psychology of Western readers, Goldblatt obvi- ously used "adjustment" tactics and resolved the conflicts between novels and their readers. Goldblatt' s work is based on questions about aesthetical standard, reading habit, faithful to the original etc. An analysis on the phe- nomenon of translating and the result offers us a good example to Chinese culture or literature which is delivered to western countries and helps us find the appropriate way of Chinese literature abroad combining translation.
