摘要
《黛茜·密勒》是亨利·詹姆斯第一部重要的国际题材小说,人物之间的矛盾受到19世纪欧美文化冲突的影响。本文运用巴赫金的复调理论,分别从人物的自我意识、文本的对话结构、开放式对话三个方面,分析《黛茜·密勒》中的复调艺术,指出詹姆斯的国际主题小说创作,旨在构建欧美文化之间的对话,而非彼此的融合。
Daisy Miller is Henry James’ first important novel concerning ＂international themes.＂In this novel Henry James describes various Americans traveling in Europe.The contradictions and conflicts between the characters are mainly influenced by the conflict between European culture and American culture.Through the perspective of Bakhtin’s theory of polyphony,this paper analyzes the polyphonic features in Daisy Miller from the following three aspects：self-consciousness of the characters,dialogic structure of the text and the opening ending of the novel.Henry James’ creation of＂international themes＂aims to construct a dialogue between European culture and American culture instead of achieve cultural integration.
