Objective To observe the effect of 5-amino acid photodynamic therapy(ALA-PDT) in the treatment of acne vulgaris. Methods 60 patients with acne treated in our hospital from January 2015 to June 2016 were selected and were randomly divided into two groups:a group of the left side of the face as the experimental side, the right side of the control side;the other group on the right side of the test side, the left side of the control side. The test side were given external 3% ALA 1 h,20 min red light irradiation;the control side only were given the red light irradiation 20 min.Once a week,4 weeks of treatment. The curative effect of every week was observed. Results After treatment, the acne was(5.0±4.0),papules was(2.7±2.2),pustules was(1.2±1.2),lesion number was(7.0±5.4) in the test side, significantly less than that of the control side[(5.9±3.1),(4.0±2.5),(1.9±1.6),(10.3±6.7)],the difference was statistically significant(all P〈0.05).The effective rate of the test side was 61.7% in the second weeks,78.3% in the fourth weeks, which was significantly higher than that of the control side in 21.7% and 41.6% respectively, and the difference was statistically significant(P〈0.05).All patients were treated in the process without discomfort,9 patients in the red light at the start of the local burning sensa tion, and 2 patients with mild pain. Conclusion The concentration of 3% ALA 1 h and 20 min treated light,4 weeks to1 course of treatment,is feasible and effective for the treatment of acne solutions.
