"宗教是人民的鸦片"是马克思主义宗教观的诸多观点之一,是马克思对于宗教社会作用的正确判断。在历史上,宗教所具有的精神麻醉的作用是不容否定的,宗教是剥削者、统治者维护其根本利益的手段,宗教不能真正解决劳苦大众的苦难,只能使其从精神上得到虚幻的安抚,放松了争取此岸现实幸福的斗争。即使是在当今社会,"宗教是人民的鸦片"这一论断依然并不过时,不能为个别人的某些认识所左右。

＂Religion is the Opium to the People＂ is one of the re41igious thought in Marxism, the correct judgment of the function of religion to the society. And it undeniable that religion has the spirit toxicities in history, which is the means of the exploiters and the governing class to keep their control, and that it can not slve the misery of the working mass but the illusory comfort in spirit in turn loosen the struggle to pursue the secular happiness. Even today the notion that ＂Religion is the Opium to the People＂ still keeps to the fashion and can not be deviated by some people＇s knowledge.
