Interpreting sexual relations in The Horse Dealer's Daughter from the perspective of Freudian Structural Theory of Personality

弗洛伊德人格结构理论中的"本我""自我"和"超我"之间的矛盾冲突在劳伦斯的短篇小说《马贩子的女儿》中男女主人公身上得到了很好的体现,本文试图用弗洛伊德人格理论解读《马贩子的女儿》中两性关系发展变化过程,并进一步分析该小说中的结局对男女主人公而言他们是否找到了真爱,是否获得了真正的幸福。

The conflict among the id, ego and superego in Freudian Structural Theory of personality is fully presented in the development of sexual relations between Mable and Doctor Fergusson in The Horse Dealer ＂s Daughter by D. H Lawrence. This paper attempts to interpret again the evolution of sexual relations in the terms of Freudian personality theory, and further analyze whether the ending is a true happiness for the two main characters in this novel.
