Eastern Miscellany——the Ideological Guidance for the May 4^(th) New Culture

在长期以来的历史叙述中《东方杂志》都是"五四"新文化运动的反对者形象,但事实上在"五四"新文化运动开始前后,《东方杂志》堪称"五四"新文化运动的思想先导。文章从"精神救国论"的提出、道德伦理问题的关注、个人主义的倡导三个方面详细论述了《东方杂志》之于新文化运动的启导作用。

Although it has long been described as an opponent of the May 4th New Culture Movement in previous historical narration,Eastern Miscellany can be said to be the ideological guidance for the movement just before and after its start. This paper aims to expound the enlightenment of Eastern Miscellany for the New Culture Movement in three aspects such as the proposition of＂the view on spiritual national salvation＂,a concern with ethical issues and the upholding of individualism.
