As a famous elite intellectual community in the 20th century of Great Britain, the Bloomsbury Circle took the lead in putting the theory of androgyny as a lifestyle into practice. Roger Fry, the spiritual leader of the "Bloomsburies," paid special attention to the syncretic values of love and aesthetic concept and its practice, integrating both sensibility and intellect. And his claim then had a dis- tinct influence on the literary ideas and writings of Woolf, as it was reflected through her life. It is under such deep effect of Blooms- bury Group, who lived in an androgyny atmosphere in pursuit of a balance between sensibility and intellect, that Woolfnot only created the fantastic androgyny images in her fictions but also developed this concept that have been accepted by women artists as the aesthetic symbol in their depiction of women's ideal personality.
