Wei Yuan was a great thinker during the critical period from Middle ages to Modern times, his thoughts have been shining, which inspired Chinese people to actively explore ＂enlightenment, salva- tion, self-reliance＂ as the theme of modernization. The newspapers have actively spread the western democracy, and promote anti imperialist patriotic political change and the development of com- modity economy advocates.
