On the Ideal and Reality of Primary English Teachers' Roles

摘要 根据《义务教育英语课程标准》的要求,目前小学英语教师角色定位的应然与实然尚存在较大差距。导致角色差距的原因在于小学英语教师的专业化地位未获得认可、职前教育体制滞后、职后培训机制不健全。确立小学英语教师的专业化地位、改革职前培养体制、健全职后培训机制有助于小学英语教师的角色定位由实然走向应然。 There is a great gap between the ideal and reality of primary English teachers' roles according to requirements of English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education. The reasons of these problems mainly are the unacknowledged professionalism of primary English teachers, the lag-behind educational system of pre-service teachers and the unsound implementation mechanism of teachers' in-service education. In order to help primary English teachers change their roles, some measures can be employed, such as enhancing the professionalism of primary English teachers, reforming the educational system ofpre-service teachers and perfecting policies for teachers' in-ser- vice education.
