七世达赖喇嘛格桑嘉措是西藏历史上一位重要的宗教领袖,清代档案中较为全面地保留了七世达赖去世前病情发展及治疗过程的相关医案,是清代太医院医师到西藏为达赖喇嘛诊病的首次记录,反映了乾隆帝对七世达赖喇嘛病情安危的重视态度,对于研究清代西藏史、清中央政府与西藏地方关系史、清代中医学史都具有独特的参考价值。

In the Qing-dynasty archives there is a complete record about the disease progression and treatment of the 7th Dalai Lama who was regarded as an important religious leader in the history of Tibet. It was the first document about the doctors from the Qing imperial institute of medicine being on the imperial mission to provide medical diagnosis and treatment to Dalai Lama, which actually is the expression of Emperor Qianlong's much care about his health. The record is of unusual value for the study of the history of Tibet in Qing Dynasty, the history of the Qing central government and the Tibet region, and the history of traditional Chinese medicine in the Qing Dynasty.
