Why Do They Prefer Lesbianism?——Analysis of Lesbianism in By the Light of My Father's Smile

为确保男性在两性关系中的中心地位,父权社会将异性恋标榜为唯一自然的性行为和情感表达方式,因此女同性恋的出现就不是一种生理现象或随意的癖好,而是女性内部结成的反抗父权制的同盟。《父亲的微笑之光》中的女同性恋情阐释了同性之爱对于黑人妇女争取自由和解放的重大意义,即黑人妇女可在同性关系提供的新机遇下展开新型人际关系,让男性重新审视女性,重新思索两性关系,从而构建两性平等共处的和谐社会,以实现整个人类的完整生存。

In the patriarchal society, to ensure the authority of men, heterosexuality has been considered to be the only acceptable sexual behavior; therefore, lesbianism becomes an alliance for women to fight against the sexual discrimination and oppression from patriarchy rather than a physical phenomenon, and it is a way for women to struggle for their liberation. Based on the analysis of lesbianism in By the Light of My Father＇s Smile, this paper explains the significance of lesbianism for black women. Lesbianism provides a new type of interpersonal relationship for black women, which presses black men into reconsidering their relationship with black women, and makes it t^ossible for men and women to build a harmonious society where the humankind can live in ~eace.
