鼻烟壶,是专门盛装鼻烟的容器,其形制多为扁圆型,宽腹小口,由壶体、壶盖,烟勺组成。鼻烟壶形态娇小,盈手可握,但无论从题材、形状、或从材质及制作工艺而言,鼻烟壶的种类都很多,原料也不尽相同。鼻烟系一种烟草制品,是在研磨极细的优质烟草末中,掺入麝香、冰片、薄荷等名贵药材,并在密封的蜡丸中陈化数年乃至数十年才可以使用。鼻烟不需用火种,只要用手指粘上烟末送到鼻孔,轻轻吸入就可以满足烟瘾,并且具有解疲明目、活血之功效。
