摘要
时间与儿童是麦克尤恩小说《时间中的孩子》的两大主题。时间的弯曲变形和儿童的形象意蕴成为麦克尤恩表达政治讽喻和现代社会精神危机的主要方式,然而作品中的空间运用不可忽视。文章运用佐伦空间叙事学理论,从地形空间、时空体空间和文本空间三方面入手,考察空间结构在《时间中的孩子》文本意义生成过程中的驱动力。文本空间结构不仅推动了叙事进程,还促进了主题意义生成和表达,并实现了麦克尤恩讽喻20世纪80年代撒切尔政府"新英国"改革的终极书写动机。
Time and child are two main topics in McEwan's The Child in Time. Political irony and moral crisis in modern society are mainly conveyed by means of time distortion and child image. However, spatial pattern is also a major way that cannot be ignored. From a spatial-narrative perspective, this paper studies The Child in Time with its spatial form, which is reflected in three aspects:the choice of the topographical space, the metaphor of chronotopic space and the design of the textual space, and explores the driving force of structure configuration taking place in the implication production. It holds that the spatial pattern plays a role both in plot development and thematic generation. McEwan achieves his ultimate writing motivation by his satire of the Thatcher government's implementation of "New Britain" reform policy.
