龙氏的词史思想是近代史学与传统词学相结合的产物。在"一代有一代之音乐制度"、"一代有一代之社会风尚"两大词史思想的理论基础之上,龙榆生更为客观、理性地阐释了"词"的发展历程,突破了传统词学中"空言标榜"的习气和拘于"四声清浊"的"图谱之学",为中国近代词学的进一步发展指明了方向。

LongYusheng＇ s thought of Ci history is the production of the combination of the modern historiography and traditional ciology. With two theoretical bases of the thought of Ci history, that every generation has its music system and every generation has its social good, LongYusheng interpretated the development of Ci more rationally and objectively, then breakthroughed the aerial practice of traditional Ciology and the Ci manual study limited in four tones or pure, impure pronunciation, and pointed out the direction for the development of the Chinese modern ciology.
