The concept of social forms reflects the structures and features of the various major stages of the so- cial development or social forms, which can be classified from different perspectives, according to different stand- ards or methods, and out of practical needs. There are mainly three approaches to the categorization, namely, five - form division, three - form division and technological - form division. To fully understand Marxist theory on divi- sion of social forms, it is important to elucidate the theory in four aspects, covering the method of five - form divi- sion, the method of three - form division, the relations between the two, technological form division and its rela- tionship with the economic social forms.
