Objective Effect of spinal manipulation on pain and quality of life in patients with prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods 40 cases of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc were randomly divided into routine treatment group and routine treat- ment group (the treatment group) and the conventional treatment group (control group) with 20 cases in each group. Treatment group and the control group 1 times a day, 4 times for 1 courses of treatment, after 4 consecutive treatment, rest for 1 days, 3 consecutive courses of treatment for the total course of treatment. Analogue scale visual (VAS) was evaluated to evaluate the degree of pain relief in two groups of patients, and to assess the quality of life of patients by health questionnaire ( SF - 36). Results Compared between the treatment group and the control group in the treatment, the total Chengqian vas and SF - 36 score ( P 〉0. 05 ), the difference was not statistically significant ; after treatment, VAS scores of the two groups were decreased ( P 〈 0. 05 ), SF - 36 scores were significantly in- creased (P 〈 0.05 ), but the treatment group than the control group in the VAS score decreased more significantly, in SF - 36 scores increased better (P 〈 0. 05 ). Conclusion The spinal manipulation combined with conventional lumbar traction therapy can improve the pain and quality of life of patients with lumbar disc herniation, and it is worth to study and promote the application in practice.
