An Analysis of Ancient Cliff-dwelling in Northern Shaanxi

陕北地区因其特殊的自然地理条件以及历史环境形成了具有地方特色的陕北崖居。陕北崖居不仅仅在规模、形制、选址、功能等方面独树一帜,而且与用于军事、政治目的的堡寨有着密切的关系。在陕北地区,崖居不仅仅是一种居住方式,也是古代陕北地区社会变化、民族关系和治乱状况的一个缩影,从侧面反映了陕北地区的历史变迁。

Because of special physiographic and historical condition,cliff-dwelling characterized by local features has been formed in Northern Shaanxi. It is not only characterized by its unique scale,structure,location and function,but also closely related to fort used for military and political purpose. In Northern Shaanxi,cliff-dwelling not only is a lifestyle but also an epitome of social change,national relationship and social security of ancient Northern Shaanxi.
