Volcanoes in the Hawaii Islands are still active today. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, covering an area of 1,309 square meters, is located in the island’s southeast part. The two active volcanoes, Kilauea and Mauna Loa, are among the most active and most thoroughly-studied volcanoes in the world. The unique and capricious volcanic landforms, diverse types of climate, and geological location that keeps long distance from the continent, have nurtured distinctive species and ecological systems in Hawaii.
