Objective: To investigate the effects of metformin on blood glucose homeostasis, inflammatory markers and oxidative stress in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome. Methods:A total of 96 research objects with polycystic ovary syndrome were selected from hospital during October 2014 to March 2016, and randomly divided into the control group and observation group. All the two groups were tak-ing marvelon, and the observation group were combined with metformin treatment, to compared the difference of two groups before and after treatment, such as blood glucose homeostasis, markers of inflammation (hs-CRP, procalcitonin, TNF-α) and oxidative stress level (NO, TAC, MDA, SOD). Results:After treatment, the level of blood glucose, TNF-αand hs-CRP were significantly decreased in the observation group (P〈0.05). And the level of TNF-αwas significantly decreased in the control group, while hs-CRP and had no significant change (P〉0.05). Compared with before treatment, the level of NO and MDA were significantly decreased in the observation group ( P〈0.05), while TAC and SOD levels were significantly increased (P〈0.05);the level of NO, TAC, MDA and SOD had no significant change in the control group (P〉0.05). Conclusion:Metformin can significantly maintain the blood glucose homeostasis in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, and im-prove the inflammatory state and oxidative stress state, which is conducive to the recovery of the disease.
