Just Above My Head,written by African-American writer James Baldwin,describes black males＇ life both physically and mentally,and reflects his unique observation and significant reflection of black masculinity. With the guidance of trauma theory,this thesis analyzes how Baldwin acts out the trauma of black masculinity and how to work it through,revealing that Baldwin owes the lack of black masculinity tothe racismand appeals to construct harmonious black communities and establish good relation between man and woman,father and son,and brothers,which provides a creative way for black males to work through trauma and reconstruct black masculinity.
