Revealing One's Talents,Cherishing Pure Feelings:On Hawkes' Translation of Qu Yuan's Poetic Attitudes of “Beauty of Rare Talent”

以英国汉学家霍克思所翻译的《楚辞》中的有关诗篇英译本作为语料,分析了他所采用的翻译策略,认为译文不仅忠实于原文的内容与文采,同时注重目的语读者的接受心理,体现出交际翻译倾向,尝试了一条中国典籍精品在异域文化语境中的传播之路。

The poems in The Songs of the Southtranslated by British sinologist Hawkes are taken as the corpus.He abides by the principle of faithfulness,meanwhile he pays more attention to the reader＇s acceptance.His translation of The Songs of the South shows the tendency of communicative translation and research-orientation characteristics.Such scholarly translation tries a path to spread Chinese Classics in foreign cultural environment.
