通用认知能力可以消解概念结构的灵活性与语法结构线性特征之间的张力,产生双指现象。时量词在双指结构中可以修饰动词和名词宾语。名词宾语必须包含背景化的事件过程和时间维度,使得时量词在修饰动词的同时,能够通过参照点关系与事件名词对应组合。整个结构在范畴化的作用下得到允准。对于双指现象的分析,在理论层面说明概念结构的映射也要受到通用认知能力的制约,通用认知能力可以消解映射中的冲突,在经验层面也揭示了双指作为一种错位现象的深层机制和特征。

General cognitive abilities can mitigate the tension between the flexibility of conceptual structures and the linearity of grammatical structures, thus giving rise to double modification. The temporal classifier can modify both the verb and the object noun. The object noun must incorporate a background event and a temporal dimension, making it possible for the temporal classifier, when modifying the verb, to correspond to and fuse with the event noun via the reference point relationship. The entire structure is sanctioned via categorization. Theoretically, the analysis of double modification demonstrates the constraints imposed by general cognitive abilities on the mapping of conceptual structures. The general cognitive abilities can mitigate the conflict in the mapping. Empirically, the study reveals the underlying mechanism and features of double modification as a type of mismatch.
