With post-colonial feminism as the theoretical support, the paper has examined the problem of identity construction and the implications of body, gender labor difference and race in Terry McMillan's novel How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Although they were living in the post-civil right movement age, women characters in her novels were still troubled by gender oppression and racial discrimination. Stella, as the representative of these women, dared to break the gender and race regulations and construct her identity as a black woman, which clearly demonstrated McMillan's consideration of problem of identity construction.
