The Reason and Influence of Corruption in the Middle of the Northern Wei Dynasty

北魏中期,贵族官吏群体中贪污之风盛行,这种现象的出现并非偶然:北魏从游牧部落向国家形态进化的过程中,许多旧有的历史传统被保留下来,对于公私财产观的概念模糊,成为北魏中期官员贪污普遍化的历史因素,并与俸禄制度和礼法工具的缺失共同构成贪风盛行的内在原因。而贵族官员阶层严重的贪污现象,在客观上坚定了北魏孝文帝实施变法的决心,促进了北魏的法制化进程,同时在某种程度上加快了北魏政权的崩溃灭亡。

The corruption was very serious in the middle of the Northern Wei Dynasty. The reasons are as follows： first, some traditions about the definition of public property inherited from the period of nomadic tribe; second,the unsound official salary system; third,failures of the integration of morality and law. The corruption led to King Xiaowen＇s reform,construction of legal system and the demise of the Northern Wei Dynasty.
