从方块白文自造字看白族的语言与民族

On the Language and Bai People from the Perspective of Self-defined Characters

关于白族语言与民族的研究一向争讼纷纭,至今未能达成共识,其中一个重要的原因就是语言文字的研究未能与历史学、考古学的研究紧密结合,互为佐证。方块白文自造字多为合体字,从语言角度大致可分为"口"旁字与普通自造字,它们分别牵动着白族与汉族及其他少数民族语言与历史的联系,揭示了白族共同体族群成分的复杂性和语言的多源性。

One of the important reasons for the long-term arguments of the research on the language and Bai people are the loose combination between the language research and the historiography and archeology. Most of the self-defined characters are compound characters and can be linguistically divided into two kinds： characters with “口” and other common characters and they respectively show the linguistic and historic relationship between Bai, Han people and other ethnic groups. This is also the representation of the complex ethnicity and multiple sources.
