New Era of Comparative Literature

比较文学作为一门人文学科兴起于19世纪,但长期以来基本上局限于欧洲文学的比较研究。到20世纪末,随着世界大格局的改变,超越欧洲中心主义已是势所必然。尤其进入21世纪最近十多年来,学术的发展使比较文学可以真正走出欧洲中心,扩展到全世界范围的文学,东西方研究越来越受到普遍重视,我们真正进入了比较文学的新时代。

Established in the nineteenth century as an academic discipline, comparative literature was for a long time limited to the study of European literatures and their relations. At the end of the twentieth century, however, to go beyond Eurocentrism became an inevitable tendency as the order of the world at large was going through tremendous changes. Especially in the last decade or so as we entered the twenty-first century, the development in humanistic scholarship has made it possible to move beyond Eurocentrism and expand our studies to the world＇s different literatures, while East-West studies becomes more and more the focus of critical attention. We are indeed stepping into a new era of comparative literature.
