Architectural Design Units and Architects in Beijing and Tianjin from 1949 to 1953

1949年初津京解放,随即开始了新一轮的城市黻工作。北京以中共中央和中央人民政府直属、北京市人民政府市属机构的建设部门为依托,借调全国主要是上海的建筑设计人才进京,建立了一系列国营的建筑设计单位;天津市依靠原有私营建筑师事务所为主要设计力量,经三大改造和公私合营后,逐渐形成现有的国营建筑设计院的格局。

After Beijing and Tianjin were liberated in early 1949, a new round of urban construction started. A series of state owned architectural design units were established in Beijing, based on the construction departments directly under the control of the Communist Party of China （CPC） Central Committee, Central People＇ s Government and Beijing Municipal People＇s Government. It gathered architecture professionals from all over the country, especially from Shanghai. Meanwhile, after the completion of the socialist transformation and public-private joint management, it gradually formed the system of state-owned architectural design institute in Tianjin, based on the previous private architectural design companies.
