Objective To explore the predictive value of plasma lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) for progressive cerebral infarction. Methods A total of 68 cases of patients with cerebral infarction admitted to our hospital from May 2014 to May 2015 were selected as the experimental group, and 68 cases of healthy person at the same period were selected as the control group. ELISA was used to detect the Lp-PLA2 levels of two groups. The Lp-PLA2 level was compared between progressive cerebral infarction patients and steady cerebral infarction patients. According to the Lp-PLA2 level, patients were divided into four degree, and the endpoint events of four degree were compared. Results The Lp-PLA2 level of control group was significantly lower than that of experimental group (P 〈0.05). Patients with steady cerebral infarction had significantly lower Lp-PLA2 level than patients with progressive cerebral infarction (P 〈0.05). Patients were divided into four degree, and the incidence ofendpoint event of group 1 was significantly lower than that of the other 3 groups, group 2 was significantly lower than group 4, and group 3 was significantly lower than group 4, all the differences were statistically significant (all P〈0.05). Conclusions Patients with progressive cerebral infarction have significantly higher Lp-PLA2 level, and Lp-PLA2 can be used as a predictive index for risk assessment of patients with progressive cerebral infarction.
