China-ASEAN Relations in the Post-ASEAN Community Era

当前东南亚地区格局总的特点是权力结构正在发生变化,处在新旧权力交替的过渡时期,在这个时期,一切都在变化中,旧的平衡已被打破,新的平衡尚未建立,各种力量之间进行着或明或暗的博弈,谋求建立新的平衡。中国与东盟进一步发展战略伙伴关系是双方共同的意愿,中国—东盟关系经过25年的发展,现在双方都面对一个全新的对方——一体化的东盟和正在迅速成长为世界大国的中国。在新的历史起点上,新的地区发展格局对双方都是机遇与挑战并存。当前,中国—东盟关系总体是良好的,合作大过分歧,机遇胜过挑战。双方应该进一步加强合作,为地区的繁荣稳定做出贡献。

The general characteristic of Southeast Asia currently is that the pattern of power structure is changing, and it is now in the transitional period of old and new alternating powers. In this period, everything is changing, the old balance has been broken, a new balance has not been established, and various forces compete openly or covertly, seeking to establish a new balance. Both China and ASEAN are willing to further develop their strategic partnership. After 25 years of development of the Chinese- ASEAN relations, both sides are new to each other--the integrated ASEAN and the rapidly growing China as a world power. In the new historical starting point, the new regional development pattern means both opportunity and challenge to them. At present, the Chinese-ASEAN relationship is good in general terms, with more cooperation than differences, and more opportunities than challenges. The two sides should further strengthen cooperation and contribute to the prosperity and stability of the region.
