《崂山道士》英译本的文化抉择与意境再现

Cultural Choice and the Representation of Artistic Conception on Translating The Taoist of Lao Mountain

依据文化分层理论,分析《聊斋志异》的一个英译本《崂山道士》一文的译文特点及其传达的原文意境和情感。通过比较原文文化物质层次、制度层次和心理层次所对应的译文,可知译者传达了原文文化的内涵;再现了原文的意境、表达了原作的情感,以上均体现在译者选取了恰当的词汇。对于体现在表层文化与中层文化中的部分文化词汇翻译不足之处,提出了改进的措施。笔者拟用释意和加注的方式来改进原文的不足之处,再现原文的文化意义。

Based on one of the translation versions of Strange Tales From Make-Do Studio,the author chose one of its tales—The Taoist of Lao Mountain,this paper will analyze its characteristics from levels of culture,artistic conception and emotion. By comparing the original work with the translation version from the three levels of culture,namely material level,system level and psychological level,it is safely to draw the conclusion that the translation version reflected the above mentioned three aspects of culture. The translators create the artistic conception and emotion of the original work. All of them are done by choosing exact words. As for some of the mis-translation of certain cultural items of material level and system level,the author put forward improvement measures. The author reflected the Chinese culture of the original text by presenting the exact meaning of them and adding annotations.
