摘要
自"鸦片战争"始,中国遭受列强凌辱,救亡图存、保种保国成为时代主题。许多有识之士的目光投向了西方先进的资本主义国家,译介了大量自然科学和社会科学著作,出现了我国翻译史上少有的高潮。本文对这段时间的翻译活动进行了历史考察,从产生背景、译介内容、译介阶段等方面分析了西学译介同救亡图存运动的历史联系,指出两者是紧密联系、互相促进的。
China was subject to humiliation since the Opium War. Campaigns for the state survival characterized the period. Many Chinese visionaries turned to the West for solutions, and they translated a large quantity of natural and social literature, marking another translation boost in Chinese history.
