Inappropriate growth of gestational weight gain（GWG）which is as an important process of pregnancy can adversely affect maternal and neonatal health. Understanding the characteristics associated with inadequate or excessive weight gain may potentially identify the women at-risk,and expand the guidance and interventions to improve pregnancy outcomes. This paper summarizes GWG from the aspects of physiological factors, social and environmental factors, and personal factors.
