罗郁正的华人学者身份和文化离散经历,决定了其文化认知心理、文化认知模式和文化认知目标都与普通意义上的英美本土学者有所不同,也有别于中国国内学者,这些差异最终体现在了他的汉诗英译中。"文化寻根"和"文化共生"是其汉诗译品中体现出的两大译诗观。

Irving Yucheng Lo, as a Chinese-born American scholar who has experienced cultural dispora, differs from native English-speaking scholars and domestic Chinese scholars in cultural cogni- tive psychology, cultural cognitive mode and cultural cognitive target. These differences, as a result, are reflected in his translation practice. This thesis, by analyzing Irving＇s English translations of Chi- nese poetry from the perspective of cultural root-seeking and cultural coexistence, aims at revealing Ir- ving＇s translation thought in translating Chinese poetry.
