Peripheral Facial Paralysis Treated by Acupuncture by Stages

中医学将周围性面瘫辨证分为风寒袭络证、风热犯表证、风痰阻络证、气虚血瘀证,治疗从经筋、经脉、脏腑不同层次取穴,主药从阳明经论治选穴。根据本病的发展规律、患者的发病时间及症状特点,将面瘫分为三期:急性期、恢复期、后遗症期。急性期治疗原则以散寒通络、疏风解表,宣通太阳、阳明之经气。恢复期为本虚标实证,针刺手法理应轻柔、和缓。后遗症期正虚尚未恢复,易余邪留恋,治宜调补脾胃,滋养肝肾以补气行血,顾护正气。

The syndrome differentiation of peripheral facial paralysis treated by acupuncture by stages in TCM is divided into syndrome of wind-cold attacking the collaterals,syndrome of wind-heat attacking the exterior,syndrome of wind-phlegm blocking the collaterals, and syndrome of qi deficiency and blood stasis. During treatment, the acupoints were selected from different levels of tendons, merdians and viscera, especially from Yangming meridian. Based on the development law, onset time and characteristics of the symptoms, facial paralysis can be divided into three stages：acute stage, restoration stage and sequelae stage. In acute stage, the principle should be dispersing cold and unblocking collaterals, dispersing wind and exterior, ventilating the meridian qi of Taiyang and Yangming. In restoration stage, the syndrome is root deficiency and superficial excess and the manipulations of acupuncture should be gentle and mild. In sequelae stage,healthy qi isn＇t restored and the pathogen tends to remain,and the therapeutic principle should be tonifying the spleen and stomach, nourishing liver and kidney in order to tonify qi, activate blood stasis and protect healthy qi.
