产品质量与中国出口企业加成率——来自中国制造业企业的证据

Product Quality and the Export Enterprises' Markups in China— Evidence from China's Industrial Enterprise Database

本文基于2000-2006年中国工业企业数据库和中国海关数据库的匹配数据,实证检验了产品质量对出口企业加成率的影响效应。研究结果表明:现阶段提高企业产品质量对我国出口企业加成率的提升具有重要影响;提升出口产品质量的重点在于沿海地区的非国有企业,尤其是非垄断行业内的大量私营企业;在位企业产品质量的提高显著提升企业加成率,而新进企业和高出口倾向企业产品质量的提高则显著降低了企业加成率;产品质量通过产品价格和边际成本影响出口企业加成率。本文的结论对于理解在我国供给侧结构性改革背景下如何有效提升企业产品质量找到另一条识别路径——通过提高出口企业加成率惠及一个国家。

Based on China＇s industry enterprise database and Chinese longitudinal firm trade transaction data from 2000 to 2006, this paper empirically tests the effects of product quality on export enterprises＇ markups. Results show that,firstly, the improvement of product quality does have an important impact on the export enterprises＇ markups. Secondly, the key of improvement lies on non-stateowned enterprise in coastal areas, especially, private enterprises in the non-monopoly industry. Thirdly, the improvement of product quality of survivors significantly increases enterprises＇ markups, but the improvement of product quality of new entrants and enterprises with high export- oriented significantly reduces enterprises＇ markups. Fourthly, the effect of product quality could operate through price changes, marginal cost changes, or both. Conclusions of this paper to understand how to improve the product quality effectively in the background of China＇s supply- side structural reforms, offer another potential channel—by improving the export enterprises＇ markups which can benefit a nation.
