全球化语境下亚洲国家的英语教育规划

English Language Education Planning in Globalized Era:The Case of Five Major Asian Countries

摘要 文章拟以亚洲几个国家(日本、韩国、中国、新加坡和马来西亚)的英语教育规划为例,着重探讨三个主要问题:全球化语境下亚洲国家英语教育政策制定的社会政治和经济理据;全球化语境下英语普及对英语为非母语的亚洲国家语言和文化的影响;亚洲国家如何积极应对全球化语境下英语强势渗透的局面。希望通过对比分析,发掘有利于亚洲经济发展、国民素质提高的合理因素,为外语教育规划和语言政策的制定提供实证和理性的认识。 Asian countries have similar geographical features,linguistic and cultural roots.By comparing and analyzing the English education situations in five major Asian countries,i.e.Japan,Korea,China,Singapore and Malaysia,this paper wishes to find out some of the common concerns and challenges with regard to English language education planning in non-native countries in the context of globalization.In particular,it will address three key issues:1)The social and economic motivations behind the formulation and implementation of English language education policies;2)The impact of English spread on the language and culture of Asian countries;3)How should Asian countries properly handle the powerful infiltration of English.It is hoped that this study will shed light on and provide empirical evidence toward a rational and effective framework of foreign language education policy and planning in Asia.
