[Purpose/significance] This paper studies the American think tank market system under the policy decision system so as to comprehensively and systematically understand the performance of the American think tank market and provide practical experience. [Method/process] From the market perspective, this paper analyzed the developing process of the think tank market through the field investigation on the basis of the reference information. [Result/conclusion[ This paper finds out that the market system speeds up the development of the American think tank market which has already become the important component of the governmental policy decision system. This may give enlightenment to the construction of Chinese new types of think tanks.
