The Delicate Balance: Study on the Relationship Between ZHU Chun and Emperor Yongle

朱椿为明代蜀府第一代蜀王,明成祖为明朝第三位皇帝。二人原为兄弟关系,都是藩王;由于靖难之役的爆发,二人虽仍是兄弟,但已让位于君臣关系。明清时期相关著作记载了明成祖对蜀献王朱椿的待遇与评价颇高,后者对前者也是忠心耿耿。有明一代,皇室内部关系始终较为紧张。蜀王朱椿与明成祖的关系是否如其表面所显示的那样,在仔细分析蜀献王朱椿与建文帝的关系,朱椿上疏揭发谷王朱橞谋反一事,以及他对方孝孺一事的处理态度的基础上,会发现明成祖与蜀献王朱椿的关系并不如史书所载那么简单,同时谷王朱橞谋反一事亦存在诸多疑点。

ZHU Chun was the first prince of Shu Mansion in Ming Dynasty, and ZHU Di was the third emperor of Ming Dynasty. Before ZHU Di became emperor, both of them were princes and were brothers originally. After the outbreak of Jingnan Campaign, the brotherhood relations between them gave way to the monarch - subject one. Works written in Ming and Qing Dynasties recorded that ZHU Chun had received a preferential treatment and high praises by Emperor Yongle, and that he was also loyal and devoted to the Emperor. In Ming Dynasty, relationships among the royal family were always intense. Based on careful analyses about ZHU Chun, e. g. the relationships between him and Emperor Jianwen, his disclosure of ZHU Hui＇ s rebellion, and his attitudes towards the incident of FANG Xiao - ru ＇ s martyrdom, this article found the relationship between ZHU Chun and Emperor Yongle was not as simple as what it looks like in historical records.
