The paper argues that space is an important dimension of the evolution of communication technology. Using the methods of literature analysis and speculative reasoning, the paper analyzes the legitimacy and necessity of the spatial dimension of communication technology evolution from four aspects： the ＂initial position＂ of space, the time ＂preference＂ of communication, the historical features of media depending on space, and the current mobile communication technology ＂resurrecting＂ the ＂spatial＂ dimension. It also provides more possibilities for the further understanding of the evolution of communication technology.
