With the textual reference to the African-Americans'traumatic memories in the slavery and post-slavery periods, the Neo-slave narrative aims to reinterpret the history of African-Americans and constitute the counter-narrative against the white-logocentric history as well as the authoritative discourse, thereby realizing the reconstruction of African-American identity and community. The Neo-slave narrative of Jazz sets Dorcas as the "site of memory",and employs the African-Americans'repressed,forgotten and even marginalized traumatic memories to rewrite the ethnic history, therefore integrating the collective history and cultural memories into the ethnic identity, and realizing the reconstruction of subjectivity.
