The metabolic syndrome (MS)is a group of symptoms characterized by obesity, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia and hypertension. Insulin resistance was the core of the pathogenes. The metabolic disease is related to the long-term positive energy balance and obesity. The essence of obesity is a low degree of inflammation reaction, in which innate immune response is involved. In this process, Toll like receptor 4(TLR4) may be a key regulatory point. Here, we reviewed the relationship between TLR4 mediated inflammation and obesity and insulin resistance.
