Evolution of Political Status of Wizards in Sui,Tang and Song Dynasties

在中国历史上,巫觋曾有十分显赫的政治地位,但在隋唐宋间巫觋的政治地位却由盛转衰。然而,虽然巫觋逐渐消失在正统政治生活中,但其向下层社会发展,尤其在儒学尚未普及至民间的南方社会,在下层社会,巫觋依然有着极其深远的影响,甚至不时地出现在政治舞台上发挥其作用。

In Chinese history,wizards had ever occupied a very prominent political status,but in Sui,Tang and Song Dynasties,their political status declined. Although wizards gradually disappeared in the orthodox political life,entering into lower classes,especially in southern areas where Confucianism has not yet been spread to the folk. In lower classes,wizards still had profound influences,even occasionally played a role on the political stage.
