Weng-gong is a kind of idol worshiped by the northern nomadic people such as ancient Mongolians. It is one of the artifacts used for the sacrifice or magic practice in the Shaman religion. The worship for Weng-gong experienced three stages: the natural worship, the animal worship and the worship for ancestors' soul. The Mongolian Weng-gong worship flourished in the Mongolian Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty, and declined after the regime of Anda Khan in the North Yuan Dynasty.
